I was born into a lower middle-class family where education was a daily priority. My three siblings and I studied late into the night on a concrete floor under a single 40-watt lamp while our father sat beside us. Those moments shaped my discipline and lifelong respect for learning.
I earned a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering in India and a Master’s in the U.S., where my research led to U.S. patents in heat exchanger design. Recognizing the need to better communicate my ideas, I pursued an MBA, followed by a Doctorate in Business Administration focused on professional development, training, and finance. I also earned a Master’s in Biblical and Theological Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary.
Professionally, I hold a PMP, multiple Scrum certifications, leadership training from the Center for Creative Leadership, and certification as an AI Engineer. Across all of this runs a single thread: education is not just achievement, but a lifelong pursuit of growth, discipline, and purpose.
Both my mother and mother-in-law were educators, and my younger sister has taught for over a decade in schools and colleges. Yet many children lack that support at home. As a School Board member, I will work to ensure every child is surrounded by people who value education, helping them build confidence, discover purpose, and develop a lifelong love of learning.
All of this reflects a single thread: I value education not just as achievement, but as a lifelong pursuit of growth, discipline, and purpose.
I respect the work accomplished by the school board. I stand as a candidate who offer a perspective grounded in both a passion for learning and strong business acumen. My background in finance, management, analytics, and communication equips me to help use our financial and human resources effectively. I also bring the perspective of a student for whom English was a second language.
I believe the board benefits from leaders who understand budgeting, organizational structure, and strategy. My goal is to evaluate spending transparently, working with the community to redirect resources toward more teachers, behavioral counselors, and wellness support specialists.
While immediate needs matter, we must also focus on long-term student outcomes. Preparing students for the future starts with supporting teachers. When teachers are equipped and empowered, they can better serve students. Improving the teacher-to-student ratio is essential.
We must also recognize that success looks different for every child. Our students have diverse learning styles and needs, including those with disabilities and other exceptionalities. Meeting those needs requires strong instructional, counseling, and health support.
Looking ahead, I want to expand opportunities through language-focused programs similar to The GLOBE Academy, which Fulton County currently lacks. I also envision strengthening Fine Arts programs at the high school level, taking inspiration from creative models like Cirque du Soleil to support students whose passions extend beyond traditional academic paths. Not every student will pursue a four-year degree; some will choose trades, entrepreneurship, or creative careers. Our responsibility is to ensure every child has access to meaningful pathways within their community.
Fulton County has been our home for over a decade, and our only child has been in Fulton County Schools from the start. While we have the means to choose private education, our decision has always been about more than academics, it’s about preparing our child for life.
We’ve asked a simple question: what does it truly mean to be ready for the world? Not just to succeed in controlled settings, but to understand people, navigate differences, and develop empathy, resilience, and perspective. Public school provides something invaluable - daily exposure to diverse backgrounds, experiences, and viewpoints. That diversity isn’t something to avoid; it’s essential to growth.
We want our child to connect with people who are different from him and to understand that the world’s diversity is what gives it meaning. Shielding him would be easier, but it wouldn’t prepare him.
At home, we reinforce a simple principle: wherever you go, make things better. Lift others up. Leave people more inspired than you found them. That mindset isn’t learned from a textbook; it’s practiced daily, in real environments with real people. As parents, we strive to model that in how we live, serve, and engage our community. Because education is not just about where you go to school, it’s about who you become.
My race, the school board election is non-partisan for a particular reason that we should keep politics away when it comes to children lest we be biased. I have never aspired to be a politician but find great joy in being of service to others.
However, I am heavily involved with legislators. During Georgia’s 40-day Legislative Session, I regularly meet with legislators at the GA Capitol to pray with them and discuss the policies they are voting for. This year, I had an opportunity to meet with 14 Senators and 37 House members and asked them to pay close attention to some bills. I meet with legislators, Governors, Lt. Governors and their staff regardless of their political party. Some of the relevant bills in support of education and communities are:
I will continue doing my part to convince legislators what matters to the community I live in.
Fulton County Schools need advocacy. With relationships and negotiations, I will make my voice count
I bring a completely different flavor to the school board! I am a collaborative partner, a negotiator to help the social good of our community, your representative voice dedicated to transparency, and for the children who are the future of our nation.
The school board needs someone
This is who I am. I will bring to the school board some unique experience, skills, and perspectives that will enhance the capability of the school board to deliver the results you want for our children and community. This is why you should elect me!
Who can investigate budgets, apply business discipline to school district budgeting balanced with empathy, and prioritize spending that reaches the classroom.
I sincerely request you to support me with your non-partisan vote. I will be honored to earn your vote. You’ll find me, “John Seeli” for the County Board of Education, at the very bottom of your ballot
